“On social media, millennial’s understand what kind of content their audience wants and the places their audience are, so they know where they’ll find interest and amplification for what they want to say.”
The Future of Content Curation Marketing?
Meet the Millennial
One of the topics we discussed during yesterdays Content Marketing Webinar was the fact that Content Marketing is evolving exponentially. Millennial’s, to no ones surprise will lead the way to change. Born into technology, millennial’s have an innate ability when it comes to social media marketing. Their gift for curating relevant and timely information for their social networks is integral to how they live and interact with others. It is what they know and what we aspire to become as content marketers.
The fact is, millennial’s will be the main driver in the content curation marketing sphere. The question is how do we go about getting the millennial’s attention? Better yet, how do we partner up with millennial’s to extend our social media reach?
These young adults (millennial) carry an authentic voice and are an invaluable marketing resource for brands wanting to do just that. Extend their reach. Therefore, as marketers we must provide engaging content for young adults in a format that allows for easy discussion and sharing. Delivered on the technology they use. What this means is that we will need to get more involved in mobile ready social media marketing
Geoff Gower explores the impact millennial’s are brining to the content marketing arena. And as Geoff says, “Ignoring social media is done at your own peril.”
Millennials hold real power as online content creators. They are digital natives who understand the social landscape as they understand (or understood) the layout of their school. They know where the cool kids hang out, where the geeks can be found, what’s being talked about, and what isn’t. On social media, millennials understand what kind of content their audience wants and the places their audience are, so they know where they’ll find interest and amplification for what they want to say.
This ability to find their audience on the highways and byways of the internet isn’t the only reason for their success – authenticity also plays a key role. No matter how bizarre the content, millennials carry an authentic voice that isn’t manufactured.
The Future of Content Curation Marketing: Conclusion
My sense is that content curation marketing is in for a huge change over the coming year. The main thing that stood out for me was the fact that millennial’s are the next breed of marketers and they in fact hold all the power. Marketing will change like never before.
